International Experience Canada
If you wish to travel and work in Canada or get the valuable experience as a young professional in Canada this program is for you. International Experience Canada also known as (IEC) allows you the ability to work and travel in Canada. Applying for IEC, Canada has administered several temporary restrictions including travel, to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. Even with those restrictions you are still able to travel to Canada under IEC only if you have a current valid job offer.
The participation in this program defined by the country or territory that must have an agreement with Canada that permits you to apply for an IEC work permit. You also have the alternative of using a recognized organization (RO). For application, you also need to meet all the eligibility requirements for your country or territory of citizenship and the applications pool you are applying for. Some countries only allow you to participate once while others allow you to participate twice but in different application pools. Because all countries have different guidelines, you must check them in advance before applying. Make sure you read in advance and understand all the requirements before you apply.
What is a pool and how do they work?
At the first step the applicant needs to submit a profile application and enter the applications pool. Generally, this profile will stay in a pool until the applicant receive an invitation to apply for a work permit. At the end of each season all the profiles get removed from these pools. Your profile could also be removed if you are no longer eligible for IEC. You can submit an IEC profile at any time during the IEC season, as long as you submit your profile before the date of the last round of invitations for your country. Please note when applying for a work permit you will not automatically receive it; you will need to show proof of the information you gave previously to the IEC about your profile. Also, the applicant will be required to support the application and submit the documentation regarding the education, work history and the background.
How to apply for IEC?
The entire work permit application must be completed via online form within 20 days after the applicant accept the Invitation to apply – ITA. All the mandatory fields need to be completed correctly and truthfully as the false information will result in application rejection and possibly make you ineligible to enter Canada for misrepresentation. Once the application completed the applicant will receive a personalized document checklist. The applicant needs to gather all the documents in on the checklist, make digital copies and upload all the digital copies to the account. After you upload your documents, you must pay the application fees. The amount of the fee would depend on the IEC category you are applying for. If the application is approved and the applicant is eligible, the message and the instructions will appear.
After you apply for your IEC
